The British Fashion Council has released the preliminary London Fashion Week schedule

London Fashion Week has long cemented itself as one of the biggest annual fashion events in the world, launching careers, setting trends, and propelling London to the forefront of the global fashion scene. The upcoming LFW taking place February 16th-20th, 2024 will celebrate this rich history and the incredible creative talent the UK has nurtured over the past four decades

Dubbed #LFW40 in honor of the 40th anniversary milestone, the February 2024 event spotlights London’s unique position as both a fashion capital and cultural hub of creativity, innovation and boundary-pushing vision. Ever since its inception in 1984, London Fashion Week has been a platform to elevate emerging designers, provide a global stage for established British brands, and highlight the city’s vibrant, eclectic style

While the Covid-19 pandemic necessitated digital-only shows the past few seasons, #LFW40 marks a return to a hybrid model blending physical runway shows and presentations with virtual content as well. The British Fashion Council aims to balance the energy and spectacle of in-person events while still expanding LFW’s global reach and accessibility through digital platforms

#LFW40 Schedule Highlights British Talent and Heritage Luxury

The provisional schedule for London Fashion Week February 2024 includes 80 confirmed designers and brands spanning both womenswear and menswear, as well as accessories. British heritage luxury brand Burberry will return to the LFW calendar after years showing in other fashion month cities, a major coup that exemplifies London’s rightful place among the ‘big four’ fashion weeks

Beyond the homecoming of an iconic British label, the schedule also firmly keeps the spotlight on homegrown talent that LFW has long been known for incubating and launching onto the global stage. Sixteen Arlington, DAVID KOMA LONDON, dunhill, Eudon Choi, Fashion East, JW Anderson, KNWLS, MARQUES ‘ ALMEIDA LTD, Molly Goddard, Richard Quinn, Roksanda, and Simone Rocha represent some of London’s brightest rising and established talents across both womenswear and menswear

Emerging Labels Spotlight Sustainability and Innovation

A new generation of fresh design talent will also grace the London Fashion Week runways in February, embodying the trailblazing spirit and innovation that the event has championed since the start. As part of the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN initiative, Ahluwalia, Dilara Findikoglu, and others will present collections that push creative boundaries and drive the industry forward through responsible, ethical practices

Many of London’s young designers lead the global charge towards sustainability that considers environmental and social impact at every level of the design process. NEWGEN recipient Bethany Williams creatively repurposes dead-stock fabrics and supports social causes, while Saul Nash spotlights community engagement and recyclable materials. Expect to see more conscious practices highlighted throughout #LFW40 shows

Beyond sustainability, London’s newcomers also bring sheer creative audacity and boundary-breaking vision to the catwalks season after season. With bold prints, exaggerated silhouettes, a blend of feminine and masculine energy, and a willingness to experiment, these designers represent the future of fashion that doesn’t play by the rules. #LFW40 will undoubtedly drop jaws and expand perspectives on what’s possible in clothing design.

40 Years On, LFW Remains a Cultural Tour de Force

As London Fashion Week celebrates its ruby anniversary in 2024, the February shows will demonstrate how the event has retained its creative edge and pioneering bravado over 40 years and counting. While the talent roster and technology powering shows may evolve each year, LFW’s essence as a platform for groundbreaking visionaries has remained consistent since 1984

The upcoming #LFW40 lineup promises both a nostalgic celebration of the event’s legacy alongside a view towards the future. We can expect beautiful homages to British heritage beside bold experimentation, timeless quality craftsmanship beside cutting-edge innovation, and both sustainability and boundary-pushing spectacle taking center stage

Forty years since its launch, London Fashion Week has withstood the test of time to remain a vital international fashion month pillar and Britain’s enduring crown jewel of creativity. Don’t miss a minute of the landmark #LFW40 anniversary edition this February
