Luxury e-tailer Net-A-Porter is to partner with London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) as lead supporter of a new exhibition, Diva, celebrating “the power of iconic performers to transform and inspire
Curated by Kate Bailey, Senior Curator in Theatre and Performance at the V&A, the 10-month exhibition (24 June-7 April 2024) also “explores the intersection of women, power, and creativity through the prism of performance
It will showcase over 250 objects, spanning fashion, photography, design, costumes, music, and live performance, and over 60 looks, “many rare or on display for the first time
It will also celebrate “the powerful and personal stories of creativity, ambition, and resilience of some of the best-known divas, from opera goddesses and silent movie stars to sirens of the big screen and today’s global megastars
The exhibition also looks at “how the performer has intersected with society and driven change through their platform and profile for social good and political change, including global civil rights and feminism
The partnership, meanwhile, extends beyond the exhibition, with Net-A-Porter becoming lead supporter of this year’s V&A Summer Party and opening private preview on 21 June
Alison Loehnis, interim CEO of Yoox Net-A-Porter, said it's "always looking for new ways to champion the transformative power of fashion, and with that in mind, we are delighted to partner with the V&A in celebrating the creativity and meaningful change driven by these iconic performers through its Diva exhibition
