Joy Allen-Altimare is tasked with managing the line’s advertising strategies and growth.
Dive Brief:
Wolverine World Wide’s Saucony brand appointed Joy Allen-Altimare as global chief marketing officer effective immediately, according to a Tuesday press release
Allen-Altimare will oversee the line’s global expansion strategies and direct all of its branding and advertising initiatives. She’ll report directly to Rob Griffiths, Saucony’s global brand president, and she’ll also become a part of the brand’s senior leadership team, per the release
Prior to joining Saucony, Allen-Altimare was chief revenue officer of North America for marketing and communications company Havas Media Network, which has worked with clients including Boss Hugo Boss and Puma. At Havas, she oversaw “client experience, growth and multicultural teams,” per the release. Prior to joining Havas, Allen-Altimare served in executive positions at various health-focused companies
Dive Insight:
In November 2023, Wolverine said it would implement a restructuring plan designed to bring the company $215 million in annual savings. The company’s first quarter earnings, announced in May, showed a decline of more than 30% year over year, with Saucony revenue falling almost 25% for the period
In welcoming her to Saucony, Griffiths said Allen-Altimare had “an empathetic and inclusive approach to leadership and cultural transformation
“Saucony is in an exciting period of growth, and as we focus on building a consumer-obsessed brand, part of that journey also requires establishing a winning workplace culture where everyone feels valued, invested and included,” Griffiths said in the release. “Joy possesses the abilities needed to achieve this, creating an aspirational brand and energizing people to always keep moving forward
Allen-Altimare also brings a background in DEI. She has a certificate in Fostering Inclusion and Diversity from the Yale School of Management, per the release, and is a board member of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and the Girls Foundation of Tanzania
“Saucony is at a pivotal moment with tremendous potential,” Allen-Altimare said in the release, adding the company hopes to appeal to customers who connect with both the performance brand’s history and appreciate its “dedication to culture and design
“I’ve always believed that one should pursue a purposeful, mission-driven life and career, and the brand’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as sustainable practices, are values that resonate deeply with me,” Allen-Altimare said. “I am eager to uphold Saucony’s legacy and continue to effect positive, transformative change for the brand, the global running community and the entire sneaker culture
