Hugo Boss takes stock of Eightyards

Founded just at the beginning of 2025, now seems to be the right time for Eightyards to take stock. Since its launch, this relatively new subsidiary of Hugo Boss has already implemented around 30 partner projects. Like the company’s overall concept, these projects focus on the resale, reuse, and upcycling of excess materials

Eightyards’ partners to date include companies from the telecommunications, food, and event industries, as well as the education sector, retail, and interior design

In addition to the collaboration with the Cologne-based fine-dining restaurant Ox & Klee, which began in February, Eightyards has expanded its network to include the development of “Heritage Racer” jackets for Werk96, a provider of automotive services and replacement parts that specialises in the restoration of Porsche996 models, according to the company based in Metzingen, Germany

“Since our founding, we at Eightyards have brought together strong partners united by a shared commitment to rethinking materials and giving them a second life,” says Markéta Miltenberger, director of Eightyards

“As an interface between material availability and specific use cases, our venture connects various partners and disciplines. In this way, we demonstrate that excess materials can serve as a starting point for sustainable value creation beyond the fashion industry,” says Miltenberger

To this end, the company has expanded its sourcing portfolio: In addition to the surplus materials from Hugo Boss used to date, stocks from other fashion companies are now also being incorporated

In collaboration with the German recycling company Enneatech, Eightyards produced regranulate last year from existing polyamide stocks, which can be reused in various industries- from textiles and furniture to mechanical engineering. With projects like this, Eightyards is consistently driving recycling solutions forward

In addition, Eightyards co-created a jacket earlier this year in collaboration with RU Enterprises, a student-run startup at Reutlingen University. The students accompanied the project from the initial idea to the finished product, gaining practical experience in the areas of circular design, product development, and entrepreneurship. The jackets are available at the student store on the Reutlingen University campus as well as in the online store

Together with the textile innovator Kvadrat Really, Eightyards has also developed circular tabletops for desks in a new office building at the company’s headquarters in Metzingen. The tabletops are designed with circularity in mind: excess material is thus returned to the production cycle

By expanding its network of companies, creative professionals, and educational partners, as well as by implementing various projects, Eightyards aims to demonstrate even more clearly in the future how material surpluses can be transformed into marketable products and applications. The company intends to continue on this path and develop new, scalable circular solutions together with additional partners
